What if, instead of trying to be a good church or a good youth ministry we sought to be faithful to the cross and the the ministry of reconciliation God has entrusted to us?
What if instead of trying to be a good pastor or youth leader or church leader we sought to be like Jesus Christ?
What if we spent less time listening to everybody and more time listening to God?
What if we spent less time speaking with everybody and more time speaking with God?
What if we stopped and studied the gospels (yes, again) with fresh eyes to learn what it means to follow Christ?
What if we were willing to give up everything to gain Christ?
Maybe then we’d be ready to share in what God is doing in the world and we can sincerely engage with our youth toward a missional identity.
“For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things . . . in order that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:8.
